Trees and flowers begin to bud when spring comes, birds are singing on the branches of the trees. We feel happy and calm when we hear the songs of birds or when we see the beautiful flowers and fresh trees.

Byodonuma Fureai Park Cherry Blossom Festival Byodonuma Fureai Park Cherry Blossom Festival (Yoneyama)

About 600 cherry trees come into bloom simultaneously in the middle of April and decorate the environs of Byodonuma. Cherry blossom trees are colorfully lit in the evening, creating a beautiful reflection on the pond, that turns a few hundred trees into nearly 1,000 . (From the middle of April to the end of April)

Tsunagi, Yonekawa in Towa is one of the sites of Christian martyrdom. Local people have a festival every year to honor the memory of their ancestors.

June 1 (Sunday)

Toyoma Tea Ceremony Toyoma Tea Ceremony (Toyoma)

The ceremony is held every year on April 29. Many groups of locals are engaged in the operation of the ceremony. You can participate in the ceremony on the chairs outside, or inside on the tatami mats. You can collect special stamps at each ceremony.

On the day of the tea ceremony, the mausoleum of Kakujoji Kodaiin and the garden of the Date Clan are open to visitors. The mausoleum is an important prefectural asset.



Hanashobu Matsuri (Japanese irises festival) Hanashobu Matsuri (Japanese irises festival)

This festival is held every year at Hanashobu no Sato Park from the middle of June to the beginning of July. In the park, you can see 800,000 Japanese irises of 300 varieties. You can buy the roots of the irises, as well as other local products at the festival.

You can also enjoy outdoor photography. (From the middle of June to the beginning of July)

    *Basho is a famous Japanese poet who traveled all over Japan and stayed onenight in Toyoma.
  • From the end of June to the beginning of July / Genjibotaru firefly viewing (Towa)
